Four pilots were killed when two Philippine Air Force trainer aircraft crashed during a training flight on Friday, CNA reports, citing a military statement released on Saturday.
The two SF-260 planes came down within the grounds of Fernando Air Base in Batangas province, south of Manila. Local media reported that they collided in mid-air. Nobody else was hurt.
The air force has grounded its SF-260 fleet while it investigates the cause.
It is the latest in a series of accidents involving the type. Two pilots died in May when an SF-260 crashed in mountains in the north of the country, and another crash during a training flight in 2023 also killed two. The Philippine military used the aircraft in air strikes during the 2017 siege of Marawi, when Islamic State-aligned militants seized the southern city.
