Foxconn, the Taiwanese company formally known as Hon Hai Precision Industry, aims to supply half of the world's artificial intelligence servers within a couple of years, its chairman Young Liu has told CNBC.
Liu said Foxconn's share of the AI server market is currently about 40 per cent and could reach around 45 per cent next year. He expects AI infrastructure to make up 60 to 65 per cent of the company's revenue within three to five years, and said its production capacity is fully booked for at least the next 18 months.
Best known for assembling Apple's iPhones, Foxconn also plans to expand manufacturing in the United States, starting with higher-margin products such as AI server racks because of higher costs there. Liu warned, however, that overinvestment could kill the company, stressing the need to manage spending carefully.
