Google has made its Gemini AI assistant available inside Google Maps on Apple CarPlay, letting US drivers hold spoken conversations with the app while on the road, The Verge reports. Google says a wider international rollout is also under way.
The feature arrives almost a year after Gemini came to Android Auto. Drivers can tap a Gemini icon on the car's screen and ask multi-step questions, such as requesting suggestions for places to stop and then asking for a route there that avoids tolls. It can also be used to report traffic problems and look up details about destinations.
Google did not say whether CarPlay users will get the Personal Intelligence features announced a day earlier for Android Auto, which let Gemini draw on information from Gmail, Calendar, Photos and other Google apps. The Verge said it had asked the company.
