The Japanese electric motor maker Nidec says it will sue its founder, Shigenobu Nagamori, and eight other former executives for damages over suspected accounting irregularities, the Japan Times reports.
Besides Nagamori, the claim will cover Hiroshi Kobe, who chaired the company, and two ex-chief executives, Mitsuya Kishida and Jun Seki, the latter now at Taiwan's Foxconn, as well as former directors, auditors and a finance chief. Nidec said it had not yet decided how much to claim.
The Tokyo Stock Exchange put Nidec on special alert in October 2025, giving it a year to fix its internal controls or face delisting. A committee of outside lawyers appointed by the company found this month that Nagamori had failed in his supervisory duties by not reporting the suspected problems. Its auditor, PwC Japan, declined last month to give an opinion on its latest annual accounts.
