Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky says he hopes trilateral talks with the United States and Russia will take place in Abu Dhabi between 6 and 10 November, although no firm date has been agreed, the Kyiv Independent reports.
Speaking in The Hague alongside the Dutch prime minister, Rob Jetten, Zelensky said he expected Washington to confirm a date around 4 November, the day after the US midterm elections, and that the venue could still change because of the situation in the Middle East.
Kyiv does not expect a breakthrough, but hopes one or two rounds of technical talks could lead to a summit between Zelensky, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin. The technical agenda would cover a possible energy and maritime ceasefire, prisoner exchanges and the return of Ukrainian children taken to Russia. Zelensky said any decisions on territory could only be made by leaders.
