Men on trial over abuse of drugged Swindon woman tell police they were invited by husband

·

Two of the men on trial at Winchester crown court over alleged sexual offences against a Wiltshire woman, who was secretly drugged over several years by her then husband, told police they were invited to the couple's Swindon home through online adverts, The Guardian reports.

Philip Young, 50, has already pleaded guilty to drugging and sexually abusing his former wife, Joanne Young, who has waived her right to anonymity. Prosecutors say he advertised her online to other men.

In police interviews read to the jury, Connor Sanderson-Doyle, 32, who denies sexual assault by penetration and sexual touching, said he believed he had her consent and did not know she was drugged. Norman Macksoni, 48, who denies rape, said the meeting had been arranged through a swingers' website and insisted she was coherent. Two other men also deny charges. The trial continues.
