Microsoft is withdrawing its Copilot AI assistant from smart TVs, including LG and Samsung sets, The Verge reports, citing Windows Central.
The change came to light through an on-screen notice on an LG television owned by a Windows Central journalist, rather than an official announcement. The message said Microsoft had decided to end Copilot support on all TVs, that the feature could stop working soon, and that it was due to be discontinued during 2026 on a timetable set by Microsoft.
LG and Samsung announced Copilot on their TVs at CES in 2025. LG later faced complaints after an update added a Copilot shortcut that users could not remove. The move follows Microsoft's shift this year towards presenting Copilot as a work and productivity tool.
