A survey by the Brazilian pollster Vox Brasil gives President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva 51 per cent of valid votes against 49 per cent for Senator Flávio Bolsonaro ahead of the presidential run-off on 25 October, The Rio Times reports. The gap is inside the margin of error, leaving the race statistically tied.
The poll interviewed 2,100 voters between 15 and 17 October. The share of undecided voters fell from 9.7 to 3.9 per cent compared with the pollster's previous survey earlier this month. Other polling firms, including Datafolha and Quaest, have reported the opposite split, with Bolsonaro on 51 per cent. Each candidate was named by just over 45 per cent of respondents as someone they would never vote for.
