A woman in her 70s died and 13 other people were taken to hospital after a collision involving six vehicles, including a bus and a taxi, at a junction in Fujisawa, Kanagawa prefecture, on Monday morning, The Japan Times reports.
The crash happened at about 9am near Fujisawa-Honmachi station on the Odakyu Enoshima line, according to the city's fire service. The woman who died was a passenger in a car, Fuji TV reported, citing police and fire officials.
Broadcaster TBS said police believe the car hit two vehicles coming the other way before running into the back of a bus crossing the junction. Those taken to hospital were five men and eight women: one other person from the car, 11 bus passengers and one other person.
