Opportunity leader Qiulae Wong says it is “perfectly acceptable” that party rules let just two board members veto a future government deal negotiated by MPs, 1News reports, citing RNZ. Wong said the party already changed the rules in August and plans a fuller constitutional review next year.
Board member and major donor Alan Wilderland, who has given more than $220,000, told the Herald working with the left might be easier but stressed he was no authority on negotiations. Wong maintains Opportunity could work with Labour or National. The veto clause has become a late-campaign flashpoint as voters weigh how a new party might behave in coalition talks.
