Renegades beat Hurricanes on final-ball no-ball in WBBL thriller

·

A rarely applied rule handed the Melbourne Renegades a four-wicket win over the Hobart Hurricanes in the Women's Big Bash League in Hobart on Wednesday night, ABC News Australia reports. With scores level on 154 and one ball left, Renegades batter Deandra Dottin missed the delivery and the teams prepared for a super over.

Replays then showed that Hurricanes wicketkeeper Lizelle Lee had taken the ball in front of the stumps, making it a no-ball and giving the visitors victory. Hobart captain Nicola Carey top-scored with 62 as her side made 7-154, while Renegades captain Sophie Molineux took four wickets. Hayley Matthews hit 59 in the chase before the Renegades lost five wickets for 37. The Hurricanes remain without a win after three games and face an injury worry over Chinelle Henry, who limped off with a suspected hip problem.
