Revolut customers locked out of app and cards during service disruption

·

Revolut customers were unable to reach their money on Tuesday after a technical fault took down the digital bank's app and several of its services, The Guardian reports.

The company said services were partly unavailable, with problems affecting sign-up and log-in, card payments, transfers, cash machine withdrawals and its cryptocurrency features. Users trying to open the app were shown an error message asking them to try again later.

Revolut said it had been working on the fault since it was spotted in the morning, apologised for the inconvenience and stressed that customers' funds and data were safe. The Guardian notes that the outage may be connected to problems at Google Cloud, which Revolut relies on to run its systems; Google reported errors and intermittent network failures in its London-based europe-west2 region, affecting several fintech firms.
