Saudi Arabia has barred its citizens from travelling to Kenya and stopped issuing visas to travellers coming from there because of the spread of Ebola, Nigeria's Premium Times reports.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, people who have been in Kenya, or any other country with an active outbreak, in the 21 days before arrival will also be refused entry, including those coming via third countries. The kingdom imposed similar restrictions on the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda and South Sudan in June, and its public health authority said the situation inside Saudi Arabia remained under control.
The outbreak of the Bundibugyo strain was declared in Congo in May. Citing US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention figures to 28 October, the report says Congo has recorded more than 10,000 confirmed cases and almost 5,000 deaths, while Kenya has confirmed nine cases, two of them fatal.
