Sundre woman found guilty of sexually assaulting 15-year-old boy at New Year’s Eve party

·

A jury in Alberta has convicted a 35-year-old woman from Sundre of sexual assault and sexual interference involving a 15-year-old boy, CBC News reports.

The verdict against Alexa Suitor came on Saturday after about 24 hours of deliberation. The week-long trial heard that the offences took place at a New Year's Eve party at a home near Sundre on 31 December 2023, where teenagers and Ms Suitor spent much of the night drinking in a cabin on the property.

The boy, who cannot be named because of a publication ban, told the court that he woke on a cot to find her touching him and that intercourse followed. Two of his friends also gave evidence. Ms Suitor testified that nothing sexual happened. Sentencing arguments will be heard later, and her lawyer has said he will seek a discharge.
