Sweden's Ski Association and its national Sports Confederation have asked ministers to stop Russian and Belarusian competitors getting visas for next year's Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun, Radio Sweden reports, citing SVT and the newspaper Expressen.
The request follows a decision by the international ski federation to relax its rules and let competitors from the two countries take part as neutral athletes. Swedish sports leaders want to keep them away from the event, which Falun will host in February and March 2027.
Pernilla Bonde, the association's secretary-general, told Expressen that refusing visas was probably the only way forward.
