A United Airlines flight from Las Vegas to Newark, New Jersey, turned back soon after take-off on Saturday night after police were told a passenger had allegedly threatened an act of terrorism, ABC News reports, citing the Associated Press.
Las Vegas police said they detained a 25-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of making a threat or giving false information about an act of terrorism. Police have not given details. He is due in court on Tuesday.
The overnight flight, carrying 150 passengers, landed back in Las Vegas less than an hour after leaving. United said it returned because of a potential security concern, and it left for Newark on Sunday morning.
The Federal Aviation Administration said it would investigate, and that there had been more than 1,400 unruly passenger incidents in the US so far this year.
