Chinese robot maker Unitree Robotics says its humanoid robots are able to produce paintings and play chess with no task-specific training, relying instead on frontier AI models, the South China Morning Post reports. Founder and chief executive Wang Xingxing told the China International Import Expo in Shanghai on Thursday that the robots, running on OpenAI's GPT-6, could perform detailed sequences such as rinsing brushes and mixing paint purely through real-time model inference.
Wang said the accuracy needed to switch pigments without mistakes was high and that the zero-training result had stunned him. He argued that the main obstacle for the humanoid industry is no longer reasoning or planning, but a remaining mechanical gap in fine physical control. The claims were made by the company and have not been independently tested.
