The evacuation of civilians from Russian-occupied Oleshky in Ukraine's Kherson region has begun, with a Ukrainian delegation reaching the town on Friday, the Kyiv Independent reports.
Dmytro Lubinets, Ukraine's ombudsman for human rights, said 25 buses able to carry 750 people had been prepared, along with ambulances, and that a local ceasefire had held for 80 hours. Humanitarian aid was delivered around midday, and people who choose to stay will receive support. Residents leaving will travel through Belarus before entering Ukraine.
Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi told MPs that 527 residents planned to leave, but later said he had given the figure by mistake. A volunteer claimed Russia had already moved some people out before the agreed date. A regional official said one person was hurt by a Russian mine on Thursday.
