The Vatican says Pope Leo XIV will go ahead with his visit to Uruguay, Argentina and Peru from 6 to 17 November, less than a month after surgery for lung cancer, the Buenos Aires Times reports.
The 71-year-old pontiff had a tumour removed from his right lung at Rome's Gemelli hospital on 13 October and left hospital four days later. The Vatican has said he needs no further treatment because the cancer was localised, though he cancelled a visit to Assisi planned for 27 October on medical advice.
Leo, who spent two decades as a missionary in Peru, said he was looking forward to returning to the continent.
He is due in Buenos Aires on 8 November from Uruguay and will meet President Javier Milei at the Casa Rosada that day, before celebrating Mass in the city and travelling to Córdoba.
