President Donald Trump has discussed relocating White House reporters from their workspace in the West Wing to a different building, two people close to him told CBS News, a step that would deepen his disputes with news organisations over coverage and access.
One source said allies outside the administration, including former strategist Steve Bannon, had pushed the idea in recent weeks. Both said no decision had been made. The New York Times first reported the discussions. Communications director Steven Cheung said all options remained on the table and that an announcement would come when appropriate.
Reporters have worked inside the White House for more than a century, and the current briefing room was built under President Nixon over an old swimming pool. A similar move was floated before Mr Trump's first term but was dropped after a backlash.
