Chinese humanoid robot makers push into South Korea as Seoul invests in physical AI

·

Chinese makers of humanoid robots are stepping up efforts to win business in South Korea, moving from demonstrations to factory trials and commercial use, the South China Morning Post reports in an article first published by The Korea Times.

Companies including Hong Kong-listed UBTech Robotics, AgiBot of Shanghai, Unitree Robotics and the start-up Anyverse Dynamics have launched projects or showcased robots in South Korea this year, as the government increases investment in what it calls physical AI.

Ethan Qi, an associate director covering robotics at Counterpoint Research, said China's new robot firms look overseas from the start and see South Korea as one of the most important markets in Asia-Pacific. He said a lack of locally built humanoid robots available at scale had given Chinese suppliers an opening.
