Campaigners at Oxford University are calling for a planned talk by the American philosopher Nathan Cofnas to be called off, GB News reports.
Cofnas, who in July publicly accused the former Cambridge professor Jason Arday of plagiarism, is due to speak at Oriel College at an event hosted by the university's Reform UK society, on the effect of diversity, equity and inclusion policies on higher education.
In an open letter, Stand Up to Racism described his role in the Arday affair as a racist witch hunt and threatened a protest outside the college if the event goes ahead. Lord Young of Acton, who founded the Free Speech Union, urged the college to reject the demands and said opponents should debate rather than silence him.
Arday resigned from Cambridge after the university opened an inquiry into the claims, which he denied while accepting some mistakes.
