India's opposition Congress party has accused BJP leaders of treating Chinese incursions along the border in Arunachal Pradesh as normal, after the state's chief minister, Pema Khandu, said such incidents keep happening, The Hindu reports.
Congress communications chief Jairam Ramesh said the remarks contradicted his earlier denial of reports of incursions in Taksing. They also came about a week after the head of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police confirmed face-offs at several places in the state, some still ongoing.
Mr Ramesh also cited reports of Chinese army camps on the Indian side and accused the government of silence. Mr Khandu has said the border is calm and well guarded, but acknowledged transgressions occur because the roughly 1,200km frontier has never been clearly marked.
