The jihadist group Ansaru has released a new video restating its claim that it killed Yahaya Masussuka, a controversial Islamic cleric shot dead outside his home in Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State, Nigeria, on 26 October, Premium Times reports. The nine-minute video, dated 2 November, shows a masked man in camouflage offering religious arguments for the killing, along with footage of what the group presents as a training cell.
Ansaru had claimed responsibility within hours of the killing, saying it targeted the cleric for disputing hadiths and promoting interfaith harmony. Some of his supporters doubted the claim and blamed members of the Sunni group Izala, which has condemned the killing and denied any role. In the video, the speaker said the group would not rely on the Nigerian government, which it accused of failing to act against people who insult the Prophet.
