Police in Bihar have registered three FIRs against JD(U) MLA Anant Singh and Jan Suraaj Party council candidate Anuj Singh over alleged Model Code of Conduct and law-and-order breaches during a roadshow, the Hindu reports.
Officials said Sunday's procession in Mokama, Singh's assembly seat in Patna district, used more vehicles than allowed, with sirens on several cars, and that JCB machines showered flower petals in Barh town. Barh SDPO Ram Krishna said the cases also name others involved.
Voting for eight Legislative Council seats is on 23 October, with counting on 27 October. Singh has openly defied his party by backing Anuj Singh against JD(U) MLC Neeraj Kumar in the Patna Graduates' constituency, saying he wanted to "pay him back" for past opposition.
