A low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is expected to strengthen into a cyclonic storm by Monday and cross the north Andhra Pradesh coast in the early hours of 28 October, the India Meteorological Department has said, The Hindu reports.
The head of the Amaravati Meteorological Centre, K. The exact landfall point is uncertain and could be anywhere between West Godavari and Srikakulam districts, before the system moves towards Odisha.
Red warnings for extremely heavy rain have been issued for several districts, including Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli and Kakinada, on 27 and 28 October. Fishermen have been told to return to shore by Saturday morning and stay off the Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coasts.
