Over 4.3 million tubes of toothpaste containing fluoride have been voluntarily recalled across the US after the Food and Drug Administration found manufacturing problems at the plant that made them, NBC News reports.
The recall was started on 10 September by Pritam International, an India-based manufacturer, and classed by the FDA as Class II on 19 October, meaning serious harm is considered unlikely. It cites deviations from good manufacturing practice rather than a confirmed hazard, and no illnesses or injuries have been reported.
Many of the tubes were aimed at children and sold under brands including Brush Buddies, Crayola, Hot Wheels and My Little Pony, in flavours such as bubble gum and strawberry. They were distributed by Ashtel Studios of Ontario, California, and carry expiry dates from November 2026 to June 2028. Families are advised to check lot numbers against the FDA notice.
