Much of eastern Canada will put its clocks back an hour on Sunday, but large parts of the west will not change this year, CTV News reports, citing The Canadian Press.
British Columbia announced in March it was moving to permanent Pacific daylight time, and Alberta and the Northwest Territories have also ended seasonal changes. Manitoba is staying on daylight time, leaving it out of step with its Prairie neighbours. Saskatchewan has been on permanent standard time since 1966, and Yukon ended the changes in 2020.
Ontario has passed a law to adopt permanent daylight time, but only if Quebec and New York do the same. Quebec's premier says the province plans to abolish the change but has not chosen which time to keep. Atlantic provinces are waiting to see what neighbours do.
