A lawyer in Nairobi, Abshir Ahmedsadak Abdi, was reportedly abducted by armed men in masks and tactical gear in the early hours of 1 November, Capital FM reports via AllAfrica. According to witness accounts in court papers, his car was chased by two vehicles along Muchai Drive in Kilimani before he was forced out, made to kneel and driven away. Some of the men appeared to wear police uniforms and body armour.
His abandoned car was towed to Kilimani police station and his phones have been off since. Former Law Society of Kenya president Eric Theuri said Abdi is a witness in a criminal case involving senior police officers and had been threatened over it. He urged the police inspector general and interior ministry to secure his release. The case has renewed fears that state security agents may be involved in a string of suspected abductions in Kenya.
