German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has urged businesses to embrace artificial intelligence, as Nvidia announced plans to invest in four German startups, CNBC reports.
At the Invest in Germany Summit in Berlin on Monday, the chipmaker named Agile Robots, Avelios Medical, Mirelo and Reflex Aerospace as recipients, without saying how much it would invest. The deals form part of a pledge of nearly $10 billion for companies, universities and research bodies across Europe. The German government also signed a declaration of intent with Nvidia on AI models for industry.
Merz said Germany wanted to lead in bringing AI into manufacturing, machinery and the car industry, and told small and medium-sized firms to make use of the data they already hold. Nvidia chief executive Jensen Huang said AI would strengthen German industry rather than replace its skills.
