The speaker of Sweden's parliament will meet Centre Party leader Thand Ringqvist on Monday morning, a week after asking her to explore whether a centrist government could be formed, The Local Sweden reports.
Ringqvist said at the start of her task that she would meet the leaders of every party in the Riksdag. During the week she has posted pictures of talks with figures including Social Democrat leader Magdalena Andersson and, controversially, Sweden Democrat leader Jimmie Åkesson.
Christian Democrat leader Ebba Busch said on Friday that her own meeting with Ringqvist had been fruitful, but that the Centre Party had brought nothing new on forming a government. Busch said the Centre Party clearly backs Andersson as prime minister, which her party does not. The speaker's office said it would give more details after Monday's meeting.
