Afghanistan's Taliban government has called on the United States to act responsibly as it prepares to deport Afghan immigrants, adding that it is willing to work with Washington on the matter, Daily Maverick reports.
The Trump administration plans to remove more than 150 Afghans, according to an earlier New York Times report, with the first flight possibly as soon as Monday. The deportations are expected to go through Pakistan, because the US has no diplomatic relations with the Taliban.
In its statement, the Afghan foreign ministry also warned third countries against using another nation's citizens as bargaining chips in return for temporary concessions, a remark that comes as relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan remain strained over cross-border militant attacks.
