President Donald Trump's approval rating has dropped to 31 percent, the lowest of his political career, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll reported by Al Jazeera.
The same survey found Democrats 12 points ahead of Republicans when people were asked whether they would vote for an unnamed candidate from either party in congressional elections. Disapproval of Trump has risen steadily in recent months, particularly since the US-Israel war on Iran began on 28 February and pushed up fuel prices.
Other polls point the same way ahead of the 3 November midterm elections, which will decide control of Congress. A Washington Post/ABC/Ipsos poll released on Monday put his approval at 33 percent, with seven in ten saying petrol was becoming unaffordable, while an NBC poll found 71 percent think the country is on the wrong track.
