President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's campaign has told Brazil's electoral court that Meta is not complying with an order to treat both run-off campaigns equally, The Rio Times reports, citing Estadão and O Tempo.
On Sunday the court gave Meta 24 hours to prove it was distributing political content and election adverts fairly, with a daily fine of R$500,000 set to double if it could not. A Workers' Party spokesperson said on Monday the order was not being obeyed and claimed Meta's AI tool had favoured images showing 22, the ballot number of Senator Flávio Bolsonaro's party. The campaign also raised the issue with EU and Organization of American States election observers.
Meta has said technical faults affected Lula's adverts and denies favouring any candidate. The run-off is on Sunday 25 October.
