Update: Protesters storm Serbian pro-Vučić TV station after election defeat

·

Protesters entered the Belgrade newsroom of Informer TV, a channel supportive of Aleksandar Vučić, on Monday evening and called for the arrest of its owner and editor, Dragan Vučićević, Al Jazeera reports, drawing on Reuters.

Live footage showed about 30 people surrounding Vučićević. It happened as tens of thousands of people celebrated on the streets for a second night after the Student List, which grew out of a student-led anti-corruption movement, defeated Vučić's alliance in Sunday's election, ending his party's 14-year hold on power.

On Instagram, Vučić condemned the incident as an assault on free expression and journalism. He served as information minister under Slobodan Milošević and was accused of keeping tight control of the media while in power. The student movement has no single leader, and it is not yet clear whom it will name as prime minister.
