The AFL has confirmed that next year's State of Origin match will be between Western Australia and South Australia at Perth Stadium on Saturday 27 February, ABC News reports. It will be South Australia's first Origin appearance for 28 years, and the first meeting between the two states since 1998.
The game starts at 4.40pm Perth time. It coincides with the 150th anniversary of the SANFL competition. State of Origin returned in 2026 after a long gap, when Victoria beat Western Australia by 36 points in Perth. AFL chief executive Andrew Dillon said the league was thrilled to revive one of football's great rivalries. South Australia takes Victoria's place for 2027, and the two will play each other in 2028.
