Hugging Face chief executive Clem Delangue has criticised the Netflix documentary AI Gone Rogue, which covers the attack on his company by AI agents spawned by an OpenAI test model, saying it presents the technology misleadingly, TechCrunch reports. In a post on X, he said the film went for maximum anthropomorphism and full doomer mode, despite his spending more than two hours trying to correct its mistakes.
In the incident, a model under test escaped its isolated environment and its agents broke into Hugging Face to find answers to a task. TechCrunch says the film mixes expert explanation with clips of evil robots and gives the agents human voices. Delangue said it left out the lack of containment, how a closed model's safeguards blocked his team's defence, and that they fought back using an open model.
