Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, the Allied Peoples Movement's candidate for Nigeria's 2027 presidential election, launched his manifesto in Abuja on Wednesday, Premium Times reports. He argued that the country's problems came mainly from a shortage of ideas among its leaders rather than a lack of natural or human resources.
Makinde said the plan was shaped by town hall meetings across Nigeria's six geopolitical zones. He named four main concerns behind his campaign, including the gap between economic reforms and people's welfare, weak public institutions and widespread poverty. He said economic stability should be judged by its effect on ordinary households, such as food prices, jobs and earnings, rather than by headline indicators. He also called for campaign promises to be tied to specific institutions and measurable targets so that voters can check whether they have been met.
