Argentina's Federal Criminal Cassation Court has ruled that the Hotesur and Los Sauces corruption cases involving the family of former president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner must be heard in one trial, starting on Friday 23 October, the Buenos Aires Times reports. The Hotesur case had been scheduled separately for March 2027.
Prosecutors allege that the family's hotel companies in Patagonia were used to channel kickbacks linked to public works contracts awarded to businessman Lázaro Báez, who allegedly paid for hotel rooms that were never used. There are 25 defendants, including her son Máximo Kirchner; her daughter Florencia was excluded. The decision was by a majority of two judges to one, upholding appeals from prosecutors and the UIF anti-money-laundering unit. Judge Daniel Petrone said splitting the trials had not been properly justified.
