A Chinese-developed artificial intelligence tool called Artex was used in cyberattacks on Japanese companies that led to major security breaches, a Japanese cybersecurity firm has said, according to The Japan Times.
A specialist at GMO Cybersecurity by Ierae, part of GMO Internet Group, said on Monday that the company had found evidence of the tool in forensic logs, the computer records used to trace how systems were breached, from attacks on Japanese businesses.
The firm said in a blog post that the attacks may resemble those on South Korean financial organisations reported earlier this month by the US security company CrowdStrike, since both involved Artex.
