The French government has told online marketplaces including Vinted and eBay to take down listings for goods stolen during the weekend's looting, Politico Europe reports.
Digital affairs minister Anne Le Hénanff said platforms must remove such listings without delay and work with the authorities so that people reselling stolen items can be identified and prosecuted. Ministers called representatives of Vinted, Amazon, eBay, Meta, TikTok and the French site Leboncoin to a meeting on Monday evening. Vinted said it had a zero-tolerance policy and had already stepped up checks on suspicious listings.
The European Commission said it was willing to look at the issue with France. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu has asked local authorities to impose partial curfews, and a support fund is planned for around 3,000 affected businesses.
