A shortage of petrol has spread across Niger and reached the capital, Niamey, where motorists are facing long queues at filling stations, Africanews reports. Residents say they have spent days looking for fuel and are struggling to get to work and carry on with daily life, despite being told the shortage was over.
People interviewed by the broadcaster called on the authorities to find a lasting solution. It remains unclear what has caused the shortage or when normal supplies will return, leaving drivers unsure how long the waits will continue.
