The Lagos Water Corporation says its pipe network serves 34,424 registered households, which it estimates amounts to about 1.03 per cent of the state's roughly 20 million people, Premium Times reports, citing an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria. A corporation official, Rasaq Anifowoshe, said its installed capacity is about 210 million gallons a day, against estimated demand of about 540 million. He added that its 2025 records showed average daily output of only about 7.21 million gallons, around 3 per cent of capacity. He blamed ageing pipes, rapid population growth and urbanisation, and the need to repair and expand infrastructure. Many residents rely instead on boreholes and private water vendors, adding to household costs.
