Police, the Red Cross and volunteer search dog teams are looking for a man in his 80s who has been missing in the mountains of Tana municipality in Finnmark, northern Norway, since Friday, NRK reports.
Police said the man had gone to the area to visit a traditional turf hut and was thought to be heading home when he left his all-terrain vehicle, which was found abandoned and may have broken down or run out of fuel. A rucksack believed to be his was found along the same route. The alarm was raised only on Monday evening, when he had not come home.
Nine dog teams and eleven Red Cross volunteers joined the search, which continued into the night. Strong winds and darkness ruled out the use of drones, and attempts to trace his mobile phone failed.
