Two children have been taken to hospital after a serious road accident at a set of traffic lights in Sarpsborg, in south-east Norway, the Norwegian broadcaster NRK reports.
Police said one child had been trapped and was flown by air ambulance to Ullevål hospital in Oslo, while another person was taken by road ambulance. Police did not yet know the extent of the second child's injuries and said both were taken to hospital because of the force involved in the collision. The condition of others involved was not known.
The cause of the crash is unclear. Officers have spoken to several witnesses and are examining a number of possible explanations, and the road authority's accident investigation team has been called out. The road is expected to stay closed for some time, with disruption to traffic in the town centre.
