Police locked down several north Wellington schools on Friday morning after a possible sighting of a person of interest close to Alex Moore Park. Barriers went up on Bannister Avenue and nearby campuses were told to secure their sites as a precaution, RNZ reported. Onslow College, St Brigid's, Johnsonville School and Raroa Normal Intermediate all urged parents not to arrive or telephone, saying that could hinder the operation and endanger people. Officers had not publicly identified the person when the alerts went out. Families were told to stay clear of the neighbourhood until the all-clear.
