MotoGP's Qatar Grand Prix will go ahead as planned next month despite tensions in the Gulf, Al Jazeera reports, citing a source who spoke to Reuters.
The race at the Lusail International Circuit, moved from April to 6 to 8 November because of the regional conflict, remains on the calendar as round 20 of the season. Organisers say safety is their first priority. Several events in Saudi Arabia, including a golf tournament and an esports World Cup, were cancelled this month after a strike on Riyadh's main airport killed at least 12 people.
Formula One also plans to hold its final two races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi. In MotoGP, Aprilia's Jorge Martin leads Ducati's Marc Marquez by two points with five rounds left, and said he was happy to race in Qatar if organisers judged it safe.
