Shoppers queued outside Apple stores in wet weather on Friday as the company's first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, went on sale, GB News reports.
The device starts at £1,999 and costs up to £3,199, and is sold out online until January 2027. Closed, it is about the size of a passport, and it opens out to a 7.6-inch screen that can show two apps side by side. Apple says a custom matte finish all but removes the crease.
Apple arrives in the market years after Samsung, Motorola, Huawei and Google launched foldables. Analysts estimate about 19 million folding phones were sold last year, a record but only around 1.5% of the 1.26 billion smartphones sold worldwide, which suggests the challenge Apple faces in making the format mainstream.
