The Court of Arbitration for Sport has cleared Japanese race walker Koki Ikeda of a doping violation and overturned his four-year ban, making him free to compete again immediately, Al Jazeera reports.
Ikeda, 28, who won silver over 20km at the Tokyo Olympics, was suspended in 2024 after World Athletics alleged blood manipulation based on irregular readings in his biological passport. A CAS panel accepted that several readings were abnormal but found a plausible explanation that did not involve doping, citing extensive medical and expert evidence he submitted.
Separately, the Athletics Integrity Unit banned Ethiopian marathon runner Ruti Aga, the 2019 Tokyo Marathon winner, for six years. She tested positive for the steroid methylprednisolone and was found to have misled investigators and submitted a fake prescription.
