Norwegian forecasters have raised the flood warning for large parts of eastern Norway east of Oslo to orange, NRK reports, citing the national warning service Varsom.
The warning applies from the early hours of Sunday and is expected to ease by Sunday evening. Parts of Telemark, Buskerud and Oslo and Akershus are under a lower yellow warning, with a risk of flooding, erosion and flood damage.
The Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) urged people to clear drains, ditches and pipes of leaves and twigs so that water can drain away. Its duty flood and landslide forecaster, Torill Engen Skaugen, said blocked channels could cause water to build up and trigger landslides. Residents in the affected areas are advised to follow updates over the weekend.
